Just A Puddle…

November 2, 2010

A bit deep but good on him for having a crack!

Anyone else sick of this rain? This guy certainly is (NSFW). One more day of this and I’m going back to Noosa…

Anyone else ever seen the Yarra like this?

Is that first photo of the ‘puddle’ on the trail right before it goes alongside the eastern freeway (between burke rd & chandler hwy)?

This morning in the Dandenong’s was the closest I’ve been to developing hypothermia on a bike! F@RK

Yeah looks like Dights Falls is cranking (former whitewater kayaker). That is pretty damn high- considering there’s a weir under there somewhere…. Bring on summer:)

Agree. That was the coldest I have been in a bike since the Baw Baw Classic, and it was snowing then. Crazy morning. Decending was murder at Mt Dandenong too!

Pretty good up at Kinglake – a little misty but not pouring rain. Coffee and muffin at Smiths Gully Bakery makes it all worthwhile mmmm.

HTFU Call???? Easy to say when you’re on one of you allocated “drive to work days”… Now if it is raining tomorrow morning, I’ll be eating my own words…

Actually Riding through a “puddle” like that really does pass the HTFU call. Ha ha!

    I’ll fugg*ng give you HTFU, some1s_un_lucky!!

I’m a simple man. Some sunshing over a 4-day long-weekend would make me happy.

There was snow on the road at the summit of Hotham this morning…

Ah, you poor sods. I can’t really say I’m disappointed to be over here in sunny WA. ;)
About the only thing I can complain about is being stuck in the office looking out the window a beautiful clear blue skies; I’d rather be outside enjoying it.

Just to make you lads feel better, today it’s 33C and tomorrow it’s expected to be 36C. And the rest of the week is looking the same, though it may get a little cloudy towards the weekend. ;)

    Enjoy! :D

I had the same thought as the guy in the phone message on saturday morning. But i went out for a ride anyway. Completely soaked 5 minutes in but at least in wasnt cold. 90 km on beach rd and no muppets clinging to my wheel. HTFUP i say.

Yeah, I bet the weather on your equivalent of Mount Donna Buang is much more pleasant too. Oh, wait. That’s right. The nearest Donna Buang-sized climb to you is…Mount Donna Buang ;)

  • http://shadowlans.net/ Andy

    Touché. :)
Yep we might have the weather, but our options for “real” climbs is serverely limited.
Our hills are little more than bumps.

Enjoy the wet. If it gets any worse you’ll need to break out the wet suits and paddles.

Ahhh the great thing about being a cyclist/kayaker! Dights falls has been absolutely pumping the last few days, first time I’ve been able to paddle over the weir in a few years. Just up under from there under the bridge is an awesome wave worth checking out. Definitely a weekend to ditch the bike and swap for a kayak =)

LOL – and it looked like just a little rain on the radar when I checked at 5:45 cup morning!

Went up there and ended up doing 6 climbs in search of one that wasn’t wet! It was great to reach the bottom of a climb so you could warm up again.

This rain and cr@p cold weather is pov. Andrew Bolt is right (as usual) – there is no AGW, we’re in an ice age, and we can all go back to watering our driveways.

I’ve just been surfing in boardies for 3 days (hat tip Ant @ Sublime Surfboards for the rad custom fish) in Byron and it was some sort of delightful, but shocking coming back to horrible, drizzly cold Melburn last night.

    Some sort of depressing.

    WYMTM!!!

I recon that I will want to be that bloke in the picture at about 4pm this afternoon as I ride home in that 36C. Thank Merckx that I have a pool. Won’t be riding into it quite per say, but will be pretty close to it.

  • Cam

Jogging just up from the Merri Crk / Yarra intersection on Sunday – saw some idiot throw a stick in for his golden retriever, who was only too happy to oblige. The poor mutt was swept rapidly away. VERY lucky to be pushed ashore 100m downstream.

  • Blybo

Found the other “puddle” just east of the first photo on Tuesday with the little girl in a trailer on the back… Epic fail! Was glad to be told the next one was much worse but sad that I had to tow the little girl through it again… Twas about 5cm deeper than the trailer could handle

  • Metalrat

Yeah, the rain & cold is a pain in the arse. But it’s the breaking of a 10+ year drought! Be glad we’re getting some water in the dams. You know, sense of perspective ‘n all that.

  • Metalrat

[...] In other news, the weather has been pretty strange lately, with a combination of clouds and rain (VERY unusual for California) or 90+ degree desert heat. It feels like I brought a bit of the schizophrenic Texas weather with me. The only thought I am left with is to take inspiration from this guy: [...]
